Checks Security Features

American Data Systems is well aware of the fraud problems perpetrated against financial institutions. To address the problem, we are continually updating and incorporating state–of–the–art anti-fraud protections into our check products. The following fraud prevention features are incorporated as standard features in all our check designs.

  • Security paper. Security paper reacts to various chemicals, which might be used to alter checks. All check stocks at American Data Systems are printed on security paper.

  • Microprint signature line. The words, ‘AUTHORIZED SIGNATURE’ are set in very small letters that can be read through a magnifying glass, but appears to the unaided eye as a solid signature line. Microprint provides protection against reproduction by scanners and office copiers because these cannot successfully print the tiny letters.

  • Security screen. The words ‘ORIGINAL DOCUMENT’ are incorporated in the screen on the back of the check. Security screens cannot successfully be reproduced by office copiers.

  • Padlock icon and warning box. We are licensed by the Financial Stationers Association to print the padlock icon on the front of the check. This icon goes hand in hand with the warning box printed in back of the check which list all the security features incorporated in the check.

There are additional measures that can be incorporated.

  • Void pantograph. A specifically designed screen background, which is incorporated into the background design of a check. When reproduced, the hidden word ‘VOID’ appears. This feature works well with a busy background design.

  • Toner Grip. Coating applied to the paper that provides greater toner adhesive.
